Does the type of coffee bean I get matter for taste?

With hundreds, if not thousands, of coffee brands and options available, one might wonder: does the type of coffee bean we choose really matter for taste and the overall coffee experience? The short answer is, absolutely yes! Understanding the differences between coffee beans can help you level up your morning brew.

There are two main types of coffee beans: Arabica and Robusta. You may also come across the rarer Liberica and Excelsa beans. Arabica beans are widely considered superior in terms of taste, smoothness, and overall experience. That's why Brown & Jenkins proudly uses 100% Arabica beans in all our coffees, including our flavored blends. Arabica beans offer a smoother and sweeter taste compared to other types of coffee beans. They grow at high altitudes in regions such as Brazil and Ethiopia. Arabica plants are more delicate and require more rainfall and care from farmers than the hardier Robusta plants. This care contributes to the higher cost of Arabica beans in the market.

Furthermore, the quality of Arabica beans is consistent across different roasts, unlike some other beans. Their smooth taste remains reliable from light to dark roasts. This versatility allows us to experiment with over 70 different blends and roasts available for purchase in our online store, without compromising on taste quality.

We are dedicated to using only the highest quality beans, which may explain why some of our customers believe Brown & Jenkins coffee is the best they have ever tasted! Take a look at some of our customers' favorites at the links below!
