Wiener Melange, in more common terms, could be translated quite literally to, "Viennese Blend". In France, it is known as Café Viennois while in English cafés it may be called "Cafe Vienna." However, some argue that there is a difference, observing that Wiener Melange is usually topped with steamed milk and milk foam, whereas the other two refer to strong coffee or espresso topped with whipped cream. Try both.
We like to garnish our Wiener Melange coffee with whipped cream. It gives it just the right mixture of flavors. This also makes it easy to prepare when we want a fancy cup on the spur of the moment.
In a large mug, top 1 cup dark roast coffee with 1 egg yolk and 2 tbsp brown sugar. Garnish with whipped cream.
